‘…and when this life is over, and the race is run, I will hear You calling ‘come!‘ I will come, while You dance over me.’ (Dennis Jernigan song ‘When the Night is Falling based on Zeph. 3:17)
As I reflect on God’s goodness, a word comes to mind: Awesome! God – who sings/dances over us; Awesome! the young man and woman who chose to NOT end the life of their unborn child, Scarlet, but embraced God’s perfect plan and purpose for her life, and how through doing that, we all became a part of the bigger story! Wow! Awesome! a ‘newbie’ widower, who after his beloved wife passed away proclaimed ‘…how lucky we are my wife got cancer and Jesus was there to save us.’ Awesome! the church family, the body of Christ, who rallies around those who are hurting and loves on them according to His word! When I lead worship I see Phil and his boys – and almost always I am overcome. ‘God! These little boys- and now no mom!’ I cannot hardly stand it. Then I see the joy – and yes, sometimes grief – on their faces – and God reassures me that His grace is sufficient for what they are walking through. He is watching over them, He is loving them, He is grieving with them. And He reminds me of His amazing, awesome goodness! I am overwhelmed by this mighty God, the one who is ‘mighty to save!’ I am so deeply touched by His love. His mercy. His grace. The ‘Awesome’ shirt/movement – it’s really a call to us – to say ‘the Lord has done GREAT things for us – and we are filled with joy!’ to give away the joy! to rejoice in all that He is and all that we are in Him! The ‘movement’ is about Love! The love of the Father, the great, sacrifice of Jesus, the Spirit who abides in/with/around us – giving us ‘faith, hope – and the greatest of all things – LOVE!
